I feel all left out in the horse world. I use all synthetic tack because I'm vegan. It's hard to find it all.

So I'm just wondering- Anyone else here vegan?

(P.S. I am NOT trying to spark a moral debate! If you don't approve of my choices regarding animal welfare, please ignore this post and continue with your day.)

I agree with you here, but i don't use all synthetic tack.
I don't agree with the killing of animals, but i don't really have a choice.
i am more of a vegetarian, although my family is heavy meat eaters, i can't eat meat really, i only eat it if i literally have to :(
I have never really been a big meat eater, never will.

Unrepentant meat eater here, but I prefer synthetic tack because it's lightweight and easily cleaned.

It's not hard to find; pretty much every catalogue and on-line store has it. Don't know why you're having trouble locating it. :?:

I prefer leather bridles, though. Everything else I use is synthetic except for my bridles.

I agree with speed racer. I've never had any problems finding decent synthetic tack. I have synthetic tack and leather. I do like wintec saddles for english, however I have never been a fan of their western saddles. I have had an abetta saddle for over 10 years now. Its been swimming in oceans, lakes, and on numerous trail rides and still going strong. I was happy to see that abetta also came out with a FQH bars saddle. I have also seen some decent Lamicell saddles out there.

Its easy to find synthetic saddle pads, synthetic girths, breast collars, etc. You can get synthetic bridles that look like leather if you are interested in showing and they are available in just about every catalogue I've seen.

I will continue to eat meat, however I LOVE synthetic tack, its so easy to take care of and very light weight.

Have you tried the wintec brand of products? All of their stuff is synthetic, the only thing of theirs that I don't like is their webbers or whatever they call them. They felt plasticie and never did break in so were always twisted funny and stiff making it hard to get my leg in the correct spot.

Ovation makes some synthetic stuff, I have a girth from them that I love.

And Saxon makes beautiful tall boots and paddock boots.

speedy da fish- That's exactly what I did before I went full vegan.

I live in Canada. There are virtually NO tack stores in BC. Everything has to be online... I guess that's the nature of it but... :_(

And I HATE it when people snear at me for having synthetic tack. I fell like, sorry, I don't use animals skin to ride my horse. If it bothers you, AVERT YOUR EYES. I've never understood why people will go out of their way to make others feel small.

and I am utterly DROOLING over the saxon boots. I've wanted them for so long, but I'm on SUCH a scrimp-and-pinch, shoestring budget. Oh well. Soon.

Anyone have any in a size 8-9 that they don't want? :)

I know the feeling. I recieve ZERO support from my family, as I am (wait! was!!!) the only vegetarian, never mind vegan in my whole extended family. My brother was recently converted. :)
You can do it. If you feel strongly enough about, you will be able to.
