I have seen Arabians used in Western style riding. Arabian horses are very versatile and I believe they can excel in many disciplines.

I rode my Arab gelding & 1/2 Arab mare western. Competed with my 1/2 Arab mare western in Ranch Versatility & reined cowhorse.

Lots of people ride Arabs in western tack. Your possible lease sounds great. I’d go for it!!
That's really cool; I'm going to look up some vids of Arabs doing Western work!
Thanks so much I'm excited to see how it goes!!

My black horse is very silly and handsome. He is hard to train most of the time.

I think that Arabians especially half Arabians half QH or something else would make great western riding horses! Arabians would also be able to go faster farther and longer on trail than some other horses and if you want to do some endurance they are great for that. Have fun!!

As a kid growing up the ranch I was at had almost entirely OTT thoroughbreds and arabs that we turned into gymkhana, lesson, playday horses. We primarily were western with the odd fun english day but most of those arabs lasted well into their 20/30s still as spry as when we started. There is a whole side of Arabs in the western world though that you could check out in youtube! They are just as beuatiful to watch as the quarter horse side to me.

I ride an arabian QH cross western. We have done some cattle sorting and he loves to chase them and pin his ears. On the trail me and my friend with a grade arab mare (who also rides western) always can go further and harder than our friends with QHs.
That's awesome! I'm excited to meet this Arabian, my biggest concern was being too heavy for him/her (I'm 135 lbs plus an at least 15 lb saddle, I know that's not that heavy but the horse is older), but we will see!! :) :)

Bandit is half-Arabian, half-mustang. Vet weighed him at 790 when we got him but he's probably 850+ now (15.0 hands). He carried me with ease when I weighed 185 (plus saddle). He actually did relay races on the Navajo Reservation before I got him and did his training runs (10-15 miles) carrying riders weighing 250-265 in their socks! That was too much and he braced his back like an I-beam when I got him...but he suffered no injury from it.

Mia was 900 pounds and 15.3 hands. She never had ANY issues carrying my 180+ pounds along with 25-30 pounds of saddle. The only issue with her was too MUCH energy and forwardness! I would have LOVED to tire her out - but I never did! Mia:

Thank you! We did everything we could together. She was game and she put her heart into it. The only thing is, is that some people are prejudiced against Arabs. Just ignore them. I never let that stop us from doing things. AND we won over a few converts, especially in cowhorse. 😊

Arabs love to do stuff. I've ridden them Western Pleasure, Trail (show ring), trail (just out on the trail), team penning, sorting, and they've loved it all. They love being engaged and anything that will keep their minds engaged. I've used English tack, Western tack and no tack at all, they were amazingly responsive no matter what.
