Alright, I have a pair of spurs and I need to replace the rowels. I've had them for years and just recently began wearing them again.

I'd like to get my husband a pair as well, preferably the same brand.

The problem? I can't figure out what kind they are!

On the outside there is what appears to be "LV" engraved and on the inside, what looks to me "Loo Voet" or "Loo Voot" and "P725-L".

If any of you could help, I'd greatly appreciate it! I Googled every combination of Lou/Loo Voot/Vogt/Voed, etc that I could come up with.

And if any of you menly-folk have a great pair of spurs (I like interchangeable rowels) to recommend for my husband, I'd love to hear it!

They may be Les Vogt spurs. I don't like to spend much on spurs (less than $50) so I try to buy either shiny stainless wide banded spurs or brushed stainless. None of that cheap looking decoration on the side. I'm tall so I like a spur that doesn't drop the rowel at all. The bigger the rowel the more feel your horse will have for it. I also like them a little pointier than the ones you picked out but to each his own.

I have pointer 12-spike rowels on there at the moment, but I want to add a bit of variation. I'm going to order the ones I have now or something along those lines (they're getting a bit old and don't have much of a spin left in them) and a bit of a blunter rowel just to see how they work.

That's interesting to know about the drop in the spur. I have a slight drop to mine, but they're also pretty long shanked (although not quite western pleasure-long). Granted, I'm only 5'9" (it's not often that I say "only") but my husband is a decent bit taller - I'll have to look into ones without a drop for him, I suppose!

I, too, prefer the plain stainless look. Mainly because I use them for working, not for lookin' pretty!

ETA: I'm ordering a pair of blunter spiked rowels to fine tune some of his reining skills. We use the sharper points for every day riding because I need less of a 'touch' with them. But for reining I roll my spurs a bit more and also use a heavier 'touch' to designate speed of things like spins.

Because when he rides, he just rides. Doesn't ask for anything too crazy. But now he's getting into things that have to be differentiated between just some calf and a spur, being able to control every inch of the horses body. Plus, he's knew to spurs, and I've been wearing spurs for at least the past ten years, so I'm a bit more aware that there's an extension of my heel going on.

These are similar to the ones I use for show. However mine are a different brand and much nicer.
