Okay so at the end of the year my parents are putting our house up for-sale and we are going to be moving and getting land! of course I am gonna be getting a barn built with an arena etc for me to use for me to ride in.
:)
Anyways I am gonna be buying a couple of horses so I can teach beginner ridiing lessons since I been riding for 15 years an have taught a few times. Not to much exsperience but I am working on getting my certification.
Anyways I need to know what I should get.
Barn supplies I know about but what about like horses for kids? umm just beginner typ horses?
What are some major flaws about owning a barn? and what are the good things?
I am soo excited about this and when me and my boyfriend get married we are gonna make the barn bigger so we can start getting boarders etc and hes got a photography company so we are gonna have birthday partys with a petting zoo and riding and so he can take pictures.

Im excited im gonna get a new show horse for me :) Dad said, If i stick with college i get a horse :D which of course i am and i told them instead of geting me a car i want a horse. they are giving me the bmw which is a pretty awsome car.

Wow, how exciting! :) I wouldn't know too much, but just remember how much responsibility that would-will- be. You'll need to get insurance (liability will be a big problem) and as far as horses go, you'll need a few that are solid, steady, bombproof horses for the very beginners. W/T/C steady. Then a few that are little more challenging for the riders who aren't quite as advanced.
That being said, although it's my dream to open a lesson stable, it may be a lot to take on at once- take it slow. Do you have enough money to cover tack, supplies (grooming, feeding, halters/leadropes, mounting blocks, repair supplies, etc.), building (the barn and arena itself, not to mention pastures), and insurance? Make sure you ask yourself some questions before you get in over your head.
If you plan on letting people board, you need a plan for that. Lessons? How much? How often? How many in each? Planning out everything will help out massively.

Well my parents are going to be on the property so they are spending the money to build me a barn if thats what it takes. Because I still live with them and I am not going to a big university college and love staying with my parents.

I don't have the money right now but that is why i have a Job I am going to be saving it will be a few years before I start up a board stable but lessons not a problem.
I got one horse that is a beginner horse that I can use. and well i am probably gonna purchase a couple more and then of course me a new horse :) I am capable of doing this I just need a few years of saving etc. :D
Its my dream and i know i can make that dream come true.

My plan is to start out little by little. I am getting books to help me prepare.

:)

I will have money to get like the reg stuff like halters/leadropes saddles saddle pads.
I would get the cheaper saddles to start out with nothing exspensive of course.
but anyways yea i know its a huge responsibility but i know i can do it

Your initial post had me worried that you were getting in over your head but it sounds like you understand that taking on such a large project involves taking your time and planning. It's wonderful that you are working towards fulfilling your dream.

Best of luck with everything. :)

Oh I am sorry! Yea I maybe but I do know that I am taking my times towards it. First i want to get my college done and get a degree in education then my certification towards being able to teach lessons.
umm but yea it will be a good few years before I actually get all of this done :) I may let a few people board and stuff but only private boarding for now but I dont know yet.
once we move I am planning on getting everything planned out etc. By the way I am 20 going on 21 whos got a very good knowledge for horses so :)
I know what I am doing

I'm very glad you have a plan- same for me, your original post had me thinking you were rushing into it, but you definitely seem to know what you'd like to do. I'm glad that you're chasing your dream!

Thank-you guys. I do thank-you for supporting me and tell me dont do it because i was told that on another forum and it really made me upset of how much they judged me etc.
I know it did seem like i was gona rush it but trust me I dont rush things when it comes to my dreams :) I like to take things slow with stuff.

Can you take a business class from your college?

Eventually you'll want to put your planning into the form of an official "business plan". This is especially important if you'd ever need to get a business loan. This will help you get an idea of the actual cost of specific things you need to get started (like the above mentioned liability insurance). It's one thing to estimate those prices, but I found that when I crunched real numbers (to start a business, not horse related) my estimates were often a bit low.

But that part can probably wait a while. I'd look into a business class or two first.

Another thought, it would be good to have someone involved that is "really handy" at repairs and things. My husband and I installed the electric, water, and built doors and stuff in our barn ourselves (just a little barn at home). That will save you big bucks on simple repairs, not to mention that you can probably get repairs done faster by doing them yourselves rather than waiting on an electrician or plumber. I'm not saying you need to build the barn yourselves or anything, but someone needs to be pretty comfy with a hammer and some basic power tools. ;-)
