Man, right now I really want to say a Rocky Mountain because that looks almost exactly like our rocky!! The only difference is that he has three white socks and has a little bit but not much of blond highlights in his mane. But other than the differenced he looks very similar to our Rocky mountain.
Our rocky is also 14 hands.
Have you ridden her/him? I don't know if this little guy was taught to, but if he is gaited then I would defintely go for the Rocky mountain.
BUt of course he might not be. Our Rocky, Chocky, was taught to dirve first because they didn't think he was going to get big enough to ride. So he was taught to drive first and it was kind of hard to teach him to gait through driving.
One thing with rockys though is that they have some blond in their mane and tail, but I know that sometimes that doens't happen. LIke Blazer horses cannot have white above the knees except for face markings, they can be taller than 15 hands and no shorter than 13 hands and cannot have blue eyes. My Blazer horse is 15.1 completely white and has blue eyes. SO maybe the mane is one of those cases, because other than the mane and tial not having highlights, it looks like a rocky. But then again, one is never positive through photos
I haven't ridden her. We have had her for 4 months and she was very underweight. We have just started groundwork with her. When she runs she does appear gaited. Almost a cross between a Paso Fino and a Tennessee walking horse if you can imagine that! Lol! Thanks for info. I will research that breed!
I agree with the above, I know some New Zealand standardbreds are branded but that is a neck brand. I could almost believe she was standardbred if she had a neck brand.
The other option is that she was a "dude horse" at a guest ranch. If no longer able to be used or not an easy keeper she would have been sold to slaughter and on and on. The only issue with this is that in addition to a number she would have a identification brand. There is a ranch called 06 ranch in Texas. They breed quarter horses she may have been one that did not make the broodmare band. I think that is somewhat unlikely.
After much research, I have found out she is a Florida cracker horse. The brand represents her father and her birth month and year. This breed is endangered so that's the purpose of the brand. Thanks everyone! Posted via Mobile Device
