I am saving up for this horse. My mom and dad dont really know it yet though:wink: So i need some peoples opinions. How do you think this horse would be for a first-time horse owner? Does it look like he has nice conformation(sp)? If you want to know i am somewhat of a intermediate-ish rider (like i am working on my leads now..its going a good) I think the scariest thing i have done is jump 2' bareback. So i am looking for a horse that will give me a little bit of a challenge. What is your opinion? By the way i would probably be boarding him​

o, yes i am waiting ( maybe not before college though)..i just like to look ahead of time I really wanted to adopt though, so any suggestions?

He doesn't really have a rear-end and I'm not crazy about the way his neck ties in either. But he's not bad confo wise. I do worry about the "believed to be sound" part and I would NOT recommend an OTTB right off the track for an intermediate rider. Just because they have structural problems that usually need special exercises to overcome, they have behavioral issues and they aren't always reliable even if they seem to have a good temperament. Just my $0.02 but since he's off the Canter website he hasn't had much training and you might get in over your head.

He will most likely need a LOT of retraining in addition to down time after coming off the track. He would also need to be fully vetted, included x-rays and possible blood work. I really, really don't recommend OTTBs to any first time owners. Think carefully about what kind of "challenge" you want and how much you are able to take on. A horse that is trained with a good foundation of your chosen discipline, but who needs refinement and some finesse may be a better match.
