Where did you get your horse riding apparel?!

Wow, y'all must have a lot of money to burn.

I rarely buy from Dover or State Line because they're far too expensive, and I've never bought from SmartPak.

I also won't buy tack/riding apparel off ebay, because you never know what the quality of an item is until you actually get it.

Not all of them have riding apparel, but the first three are great for getting things on sale, and the last three are good for supplies, saddles, supplements, etc.

Well maybe that's where we're different; I don't show anymore so have no use for the show apparel.

That old adage has many exceptions to the rule, BTW. :wink: My latest horse cost me not one penny to buy, but he's by far the nicest animal I've owned in the last 20 years.

I didn't say the places I shopped weren't expensive normally but they do have kicker sales sometimes, which is when I buy. If you don't need something right away you can wait and get a good deal.

I bought myself a pair of fullseat breeks on sale. I'd been lusting after a pair for several years, but couldn't justify the price. Caught them on sale, and got them for less than what I normally pay for regular breeks.

I might shop at Goodwill for my regular outwear, but there's no way I'd buy used breeks. Don't know why. It just seems oogy to me.

Plus, ebay isn't what it used to be. Now many sellers are just on-line merchandisers with new stuff, and the same guarantees you can find anywhere else on-line. I'd rather buy from Amazon than ebay any day.

Yea but I consider that Smart/Bargain shopping, like when I buy $200 breeches for $18 and they look like they've never been worn, or a $500 show jacket for $160. Because the brand is still quality, but the price is to die for. Same thing can be said about horses, especially in this market. You could pick up a 100% broke horse, no major comformation flaws, decent age, and a lot of times even papered at Auction for less then $500. In the 90's you couldn't even dream of that lol.

I got my AO Hunter/Big Eq horse for $1. Of course he couldn't do that stuff right when I got him but he's exponentially increased his "value" over the years.

But when it comes to things like gloves for example. IME I used to buy the cheap gloves, but I'd go through like 2-3 pairs a year. Then I decided to buy a pair of slightly more expensive gloves and they lasted me 2-3 years. Huge difference. Same thing with breeches, I could go buy a pair of "schoolies" off the rack at a local tack store for $10-$15 bucks. But they'd last me like a year. Whereas the $200 show breeches I got 10 years ago are still going strong. I could show in them tomorrow and no one would be the wiser. (Though in that respect I am very very fortunate that I was able to stay the same exact size for 10 years. )
