Okay, back story: My MIL is an equine massage instructor and she often uses my horse for her students to practice on. He loves it (spoiled as he is). She's been using him every other week or so since November, so getting a massage is nothing new for him.
She used him yesterday afternoon and this morning I seem to have a tripod. He has a really really bad limp coming from his LR leg. He seemed to be stumbling a bit as well. I know he's not feeling well because he becomes a huge mama's boy when he's feeling a bit off. That leg has always been a bit odd, always pops and cracks when lifted to clean or check his hooves, but he's never limped or stumbled on it. I checked his hooves and there doesn't seem to be a problem there. I called her out to take a look at him and she said there's no heat, and that this could just be a "release" from yesterday's session and not to worry.... it's normal.
Well, it's never happened before so I'm having some trouble accepting that this is normal, although my MIL is very very knowledgeable and good at what she does, I know she can sometimes downplay something that I should actually be concerned about.
Does anyone here know about equine massage and whether this could actually be "normal" release? Any advice or experiences is really, I mean really appreciated!!
