My horse is allways outside ever since we got her 2 years ago and last year she got blotches of crusty dry skin stuff in her ears, mane, and tail. and then her ears started to get sensitive so we went to a trainer who we bought her from and he gave us stuff to put in it he said it would be minor and temporary. so we did it but they came back this year and now there going on our other horses is this normal? sould we bring her to the vet? or should we just leave them alone and get more of that stuff.

sounds like rain scald to me considering the location and description. easily avoided by rugging when its raining and/or protection from humidity. obviously it is hard to rug when its hot so a good hose down daily to help remove any fungal properties can be helpful. washing with an anti-fungal shampoo is good too.
