I was just curious, what is everyone's personally favourite breed for jumping and why?

Dutch Warmbloods have always been a favorite of mine. :)
Robbie is a Dutchie with a textbook perfect hunter jump and my horse before him was also a dutch and she had wonderful scope. Both horses have amazing personalities and are extremely athletic. Plus they are both gorgeous greys haha. ;)

Personally my favorite are Holsteiners, they are very athletic and scopey, but most warmbloods that are bred for jumping have the ability to go pretty high. In the past I have had a few Thoroughbreds that were extremely talented, and even an APHA that did 4'+ easily!

i like hanoverians and tbs for jumping, although i prefer hanoverians. my mare is hanoverian/tb which is a great cross. i also used to jump a welsh cob/tb who was an amazing jumper.

I like the Hanoverian and Thoroughbred either on their own or as a cross. If a thoroughbred, however, I prefer one with larger bones rathar than some of the pencil thin versions that are out there..it just makes me wince on the landing every time I see a small boned thoroughbred jump a good sized fence.

Appendix QH who have the QH build, larger bones and stockier, but have the TB height and conformation are also good prosepects. When I got my first horse way back when, another girl had an Appendix. This horse was 16.3 and stocky and could jump the moon and did very well in the then AHSA, or maybe it was AHJA..could never keep the two straight, Amateur Owner Hunter division.

My show jumper is an Oldenburg. She has a fantastic temperament and just loves to jump. I have also ridden thoroughbreds who are fantastic jumpers.

My little Welshie, bad feet and all, can clear my 4' pasture fence and has a beautiful, round jump with tight knees. I wish could jump her myself rather than watch in horror as she does it on her own... but I would totally get a Welsh X to jump with after seeing her. Ponies are fun. :D

Money being no object, I would probably seek out a purpose bred warmblood. That might not be the most FUN horse though. There's something fun about bringing along a less traditional horse.

As much as I do love and admire Warmbloods, I would never choose one over a good old fashioned Thoroughbred. Mine have had nothing but the biggest hearts and have been extremely athletic, plus their personality puts the warmbloods I know to shame! It's also interesting to note that the Thoroughbred was the number one breed at the rolex this year and is now becoming the favorite sport horse for hunter/jumpers. They are going to take over the world, and I am TOTALLY okay with that! :)

Funny I am the opposite. Personally I feel you just can't match the movement of a warmblood. This one horse at my barn, Diva(a warmblood) had the best movement I have ever felt, it is like riding on a cloud while eating candy. It's just so good! Also a lot of the time I ride in a smaller indoor ring and trying to control a thoroughbred in there while jumping is torture! I mean they are sweet though also the ones I know are very spooky. Though outside if we don't run into anything scary they are very nice and sweet!
