Everybody's horses should have their own unique quirk, or pretty unique anyway.
So everybody talk about their horses's unique quirks, and pictures of them if they are gestures if you have any!

She's pretty! Is she a QH? her barrel seems to be long and thinner than most QH's, or maybe it is just the photo angle

Thank you and yes She is, she is race/cow bred and quite long but the botom photo isn't helped by any by the angle lol I was standing at an angle looking from her hip to her shoulder so it definitely makes her look more limo than normal hahah.

I bet that when she is 7 or so she will be loads prettier!! Just curious, why in almost every pic she has this sort of cloth on her tail and her mane in strings/braids?

She has so much hair if I do not braid her mane it is knotted and or in the summer she sweats under it. Her tail, well simply put I am obsessive over nice tails so to keep them clean, neat and growing healthy looking they are kept in a tail bag.

I do love nice tails myself. But I don't have a tail bag or really want to put on on my horses, I don't think that I will show any of my current horses so.... You might try mane and tail detangler if her mane or tail gets tangled.

Lol thanks for the advice but this works for me and the tails are kept healthy and shiney :] i stick to longer bags typically so they still swat just fine as well. To each their own though.

I have read and been told that horses with this quirk make excellent trick horses. People who do trick horse shows first look for a horse who wants to take everything in his/her mouth.
i didn’t know that, that’s cool! Lol I’ve actually joked that he’d make a good trick horse 😆

@younghorsetrainer: The broker we got him from, and the WP trainer I took a couple lessons with to learn his buttons, used a twisted wire. At my second lesson with the trainer, I switched him to a bitless bridle. He opened his mouth from the day we got him and did it with the bitless as well for as long as we used it.

Laela has a few quirks.
She will steal your sunglasses off of the top of your head and take off (and she doesn't bring them back). She will go to the water trough for a nice long drink and then come over to say hello only to dump a mouthful of water on the unsuspecting victim. She likes to tuck me into her chest with her head and she will walk past me only to stop, lining her rear end up with me so I can do her the favor of scratching her butt.

Novia's has to put EVERYTHING in her mouth. She won't destroy or break anything but she has to feel it out with her mouth. She shakes her head when annoyed but I get after her for it.

My paso is very playful. Where I used to board they had a burn pile in his pasture where they would stack branches from pruning trees. He liked to take it apart by pulling the branches out and running around with them in his mouth.

In the barn he would take halters and flymasks off the hooks and flip them around too. One time some guys were working outside the barn and they came in and said "there's a horse out here unrolling some landscape fabric"--guess who??!

In the round pen he pulled up the plastic liner under the gravel. He also liked to play with a partly deflated beach ball in there--kicked it around like a soccer ball then pick it up and carry it.

I do have photos of this but they're not digital so will have to take pics of pics sometime. :)

Ace, used to stick his tongue out the side of his mouth and wag it. It was so funny. Buddy could open gates, turn on water, untie knots, take off halters. Angel only spooked at fire trucks. Pooky would take the rakes or tools when you cleaning and fixing fences. Moose will steal sodas or beer. Gramps would buck but only if I sang. lol.

I've tried braiding the long mane on my mare. I gave up because it turns into a rats nest in 2 or 3 days. It seems like more hair is lost trying to undo it than if I just left it alone. Any tips? I would like to save the mane from sun damage. Horses out 24/7

Kiowa loves water and if I do anything with the water hose she comes running. Whether it is watering the garden, filling stock tanks or washing the car or truck. She loves to be squirted, mouths the water or even plays in the water that is in the stock tank while I fill it.

I can only write about Luna's at the moment becuase time and internet is limited, but Luna has this lovely quirk of looking at me or something " over her shoulder". I have a few pictures of this.
