Greetings from Ontario
My name is Mel, and I bought 2 horses about a year ago.
When I was a teenager my Nan and Dad got me an adorable quarter horse arabian X named Candy. She was adorable but wasn't able to make it through my parents divorce and was rehomed.
Now many years later I bought a grade horse for my daughter and an appendix for myself and it finally feels like I'm home again.
Mari is an eight year old X... she definitely has halflinger and arabian in her, and we think she has some quarter horse too. She's a pretty little spitfire with a stubborn streak who is super friendly and loves people. My daughter rides english but she has interest in vaulting so we plan on looking more into that. I plan on doing a lot of work with Mari this year... last year the stable was a distance from our house and we only got out about 2 x a week... the most we did was pleasure riding around the arena. This year we are taking her through trails and I've started liberty training with her. I'm also going to start her on some small jumps.
Sunstreaker (Sunny for short) is an OTTB appendix and is 12 years old. He has the sweetest nature and has gone through a lot of training before I bought him last year. His previous owner had him doing pole bending and western gaming. I've taken him through a roping clinic and I'm thinking of doing some barrel racing with him. We had a run in with bad feet last year that limited our training but now at a new barn and with a new farrier we're hoping he does better! His only vice is he doesnt like other horses behind him (he was in semi private before i got him, and at my old stable the other horses picked on him so he doesn't trust them and doesn't have the greatest manners towards other horses) so I'll be working on that with him. If anyone has any suggestions of tips and tricks to help it would be greatly appreciated!
