I'm Kelz, I'm 23 and live in semi rural Queensland Australia. I curently run my own business designing and building costumes and looking after our 'zoo' as friends describe my place. My mother and I are both animal lovers and can't say no to an animal in need so we share out lives with 3 cats, 3 dogs, 3 rats, 2 blue tongue lizards, 2 rainbow lorikeets, 2 scaley breasted lorikeets, 2 green cheek conures, a multitude of chickens and guinea fowls, 2 sheep, a tank full of fish, our 20y.o. shetland pony and my new baby girl (Who I will tell you about in a minute)
I was brought up with horses thanks to my mum, but haven't had a horse of my own in over 10 years, until 3 weeks ago mum and I went to a local doggers sale and came home with a beautiful little filly. She was one of 6 foals from the same property. The poor things were just pulled from their mothers, totally unhandled, starving and dehydrated but our girl was still so sweet. With some help from a man that worked at the saleyards we had her haltered and in the float in about 20 minutes.
With the help of my mum who has broken in and worked with many horses in the past. I have never worked with an unbroken horse let alone a totally unhandled foal but she has come a long way from the terrified muddy foal in the sale yards.
As far as I know she is a Quarterhorse X Stockhorse with a bit of appalossa blood somewhere along the line and arond 6-8 months old.
This is me with her about a week after bringing her home.
I am looking forward to reading through the forums, getting to know you and posting updates about my girl and I :)
