Hey y'all, I'm Jen and I'm 23. I grew up in a big city (Chicago, IL) but I've always loved horses. I moved down south in 2010 and got my first horse, Wildfire, in November of 2010. Wildfire is an 8 year old Appaloosa/paint mix (I think. I was told pure Appy but he doesn't look like any pure appys I've ever seen). He was abused pretty bad before I got him and he came to me really timid and depressed. At the first place I boarded him he would never run or show any life at all, he would just stand in the mud in an empty stall almost constantly. 2 months after I got him I moved him to another place. The first time I turned him out with the horses at the new place, he took off running with them. Now he is SO happy. He loves his horse friends (he even has a girlfriend!), and loves being with people. He is my world, I can't imagine life without him and as a result he is very spoiled.
Since he was abused there were so many things I thought I would never be able to do with him but he has proved me wrong. I can let him out of the pasture halter-less and he'll stay in the boundaries, I can put kids on him (I lead him), my mom rode him on her own shortly after having open heart surgery, I can walk behind him, crawl under him, wrap things around his legs (for desensitizing purposes), etc. He stands tied, loads, saddles, and picks his feet up.
He still has his faults, but for the most part he is an AWESOME horse. I'm moving at the end of June and I will finally be able to have him on my property and be able to see him everyday.

I also have several other animals coming with me, which are 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats, 4 mice, and 1 rabbit.

I'm looking forward to meeting some other horse people on here and hopefully y'all won't mind me bragging about my horse. I'll try and keep it to a minimum.
