Hello, everyone.

You may call me Ateaz. I took the name after a famous Scythian chiefton. They were nomads who mastered horse riding. I am not new to riding horses, however, I need to relearn a lot after a long time of not riding. I've gained a few work-related injuries and concussions, so it's like starting over again.

I'll be doing what I was familiar with, which is riding using only a shabraque and the reigns. I may go on to learn to use a Scythian or Roman-style saddle later on. I'll be riding a horse for regular transportation, hunting, and potentially some mounted martial arts.

Anyways, I guess I'm here because, despite being a once experienced rider, I'll be asking for advice due to the nature of my injuries. I know there are lots of experienced people here, so I'd like to gain some of your insight.

Welcome! I am excited to see you post!! I have never heard of the riding styles you are talking about, but I am interested in learning. To youtube I go!!!

Unfortunately, we don't know a lot about exactly how the Scythians or the Romans rode their horses, but we do have some idea. Via archaeological finds, artwork, and extensive experimentation, there are people out there who've had nice resaults. There are extant examples of saddles to go off of.

I hope to try, as others have.
