Cool Horse boy incoming

Greetings! I have a lot of names around the web, but for here, you can call me Eichi!

I'm 19 years old, and I moved to rural Kentucky from Japan out on my own journey about a year ago. I used to ride my friend's horse a bunch when I got here, but then it broke the fence... Yeah. Ended up helping him put up a new fence. Beautiful horse, though.

I'm hoping to get a pony of my own in the future! I have the money, but I'm pretty sure I don't have the knowledge. I mostly lurk around, so posts will be rare, but I hope to see you all!

I'd be very curious to hear what kind of riding they do in Japan.

If you don't think you have enough knowledge you are probably right. Any greenhorn needs mentors ... I wonder if there are boarding/lesson barns in Japan?

Welcome Eichi!

It seems that you like Kentucky. That’s good to hear.

Depending on where you are, I would recommend lessons or leasing a horse before buying one for yourself. Don’t be shy about telling us of your adventures.

Like @Avna , I’d be interested in the riding in Japan.

Many years ago I lived in Tokyo for a few years. I used to ride my bicylce over the the private university (can't remember the name, but it's the one the royal family young men attend), . . anyway . . they had a stable and a riding arena, and I would watch them riding for hours. I remembered the years that I used to ride as a child..

Once, I was up near Karuizawa and met a young man who let me ride his horse for a bit. He was surprised that I knew how to ride much more than he expected.

Now I am living back in the USA. After raising two children, I started back to horse riding, and have been riding for the last 20 years. Once you start, it's hard to give it up.

We went back to Tokyo last October and had a wonderful 2 week vacation. I love Japan deeply.
