Cowgirl queen contest

I don’t know if this is the correct board type thing to post this on but I have a couple questions about the Iowa cowgirl queen contest.
What color should I wear with my sorrel horse for this contest?
Where should I get my outfit from, I have a difficult time trying to find a matching outfit to buy since I don’t have any show clothes.
Thanks for the help!

Post a picture of you, your horse and tack you will use. Your preference for pant - basic black or colored. Are you wearing a vest or jacket or a detailed shirt...... do you have a hat or will you rework what you have or buy new? What have past winners worn to compete in to give you an idea of the direction you may want to take and tailor that to a style that flatters you. Are you going for bling or a base color with other color worked in and just accent with bling?

I have gone with both white and black depending on the horse (white for sorrels and black for bays) as my base and that way I am only changing shirt and accent pieces (on hat). I had both white and black boots/hats. It kept my/boss's costs contained.

Brown toned would say blue, blue-green, deep bluish purple, light sand, dark forest green. Red toned and I would go royal blue, dark green, emerald green and teal. Chaps should match the main color of your shirt and boots should blend not stand out. Hat can be base color and add to it or an accent color from your shirt.

I tend to think chestnuts look best in earth tones, but it may not give you the 'pop' you're looking for.

Are you comfortable purchasing online? I hear good things about "ShowMeAgain" but I'm also not sure what your budget is like.

The sensitivity of the internet baffles me.

I seen some YouTube videos of the contest. Do you have a coach or previous contestant who can help you pick your outfits? They are pretty blingy, similar to what youd see in the rail classes.
Someone else mentioned "Show me Again" and I think there is a few more pages on FB for show clothing.

Depending on how red of a sorrel your horse is blues, greens, purples and earth tones look nice.

I too like forest green on sorrels. The good news is that it's popular so places like the above mentioned sites, eBay and even thrift stores may give you some good options. Especially if it's for one event, let someone else pay full price for it. A gently used hand me down can be just the ticket. Good luck and we'd love to see pictures of the finished look!
