Just wondering what everyone considers with regards to "spicy" to describe a horse's personality/performance?

I can honestly say I've never heard the term "spicy" used to describe a horse.
I'd assume it to be another way of calling a horse "hot" but what do I know?
Sounds like we are talking about Mexican food rather than horses..lol
As though the horse may have some heat but but burn your mouth ghost pepper hot?

I would take "spicy" to mean having attitude. Perhaps just spirited and forward, but more likely that it is a polite way to say the horse will sass you and give you attitude. I wouldn't look at buying a horse described as "spicy" because I would figure it's a way of telling a buyer the horse is naughty and has behavior problems and "spicy" is just a subtler way of saying it. But who knows what people mean. But that's how I would interpret it.

I have often heard the word 'spicy' to describe a horse. In my head, I don't equate spicy to behavior problems although they can exist in a spicy horse. When I hear spicy, I think of forward, opinionated, they have their own ideas, questions you, challenging and fun.

sensitive, does not suffer fools lightly, but has brio and gives it when treated correctly. you 'remember' a ride on such a horse, whether it's good or bad, just as your palate 'remembers' a spicy meal more than a bowl of mashed potatoes.
