There's warmblood gelding at the barn that lolls his tongue out, rolls his eyes, shakes his head and moans like he's having a seizure. He apparently used to be extremely aggressive (charging around in his stall, snapping at whomever was feeding and kicking the walls) at feed time and when his owner got after him about it, he started doing this instead.

Since it's completely harmless (albeit really darn scary if you are feeding and unaware he will do this), his owner is ok with it. Over the years, he's basically given up since it doesn't garner him faster service or anything and now only does it if he is fed last. It's become the "party trick" of the barn and if anyone new is around, we'll feed him last just so they can see the spectacle.

 

yep Cody Moans.. its Cute. we have a Arabian gelding at the barn he is about 30 and he squeals like a pig at supper time I call him piggy piggy hehehe

 

Our ID makes a noise like that - she's also a Miss Piggy!!!!

 

My horses nicker in a really low/deep way, right in the back of their throat at feed time. I like it, because they're so happy that they're being fed. They go and get in their own stables and wait with their heads sticking out. The whole time I'm mixing I can hear their little noises, and if I clang a feed bin, they do it louder!

 

Turly moans when ever he rolls, he has ever since he was a baby.. It's like "ohh thats the spot!" He has a deep nicker when it's dinner time as well.

 

My old guy moans, but it is only when he is laying flat out sleeping (which he does during the summer when he comes in for the day) and it is in concert with the farting and snoring. Typical guy. ;-)

Do you have neighbors that come and ask if he's dead? LOL... I had non-horsey neighbors, every time Turly would lay flat like that I would get a knock on the door "uhm... is your horse alive?" :lol:

 

I find his moaning kinda funny. I told a gal that he moans and says "thenk you" - not thank you but thenk you. She listened and laughed and said that's what she was hearing too. I brag about how polite this horse is and this just confirms it.

 

Lol. Kaiba does this really weird groan/moan whenever he's standing in deeper water, generally when it's touching his belly at least. We play in the water on many trail rides in the summer to cool down, and he always ends up doing that groan/moan thing if we get in deep. I think it's a happy-oh that feels so good- kind of groan. He kind of holds his breath and let's the noise out slowly with his air and starts it over again.
