It's my all time favorite season; horse shedding out time! When I get to breathe in wafts of floating equine hair, with dirt, too! and the way it clings to my coat and then transfers to the sheepskin carseat covers is just hot diggidy dog wonderful!

Oh, I know it! I have a curly horse that has the longest hair and it is shedding like crazy. I cleaned my brush 10 times or more today and it is still full of hair. I'm talking, that this brush was so full of hair that I can't use it without cleaning it out. It's crazy! I should take a picture of all the hair on the ground when I'm done grooming. :)

Yeah but, (remember when as kids we used that phrase a lot?) I feel real sorry for you when you have to put the blanket on, take the blanket off, put the blanket on, take it off, clean it, repair it, buy a new one, and my lease horse goes "naked", which is so darn convenient (until now when he "molts").

Mine is shedding like crazy as well and I tend to wear polartec fleece jackets which the hair just loves to stick to..I am washing them nearly daily. I am glad to see this thread start up actually as I was worried my boy was shedding too early and too much :). The curry comb gets clogged with just a few swipes at this point, I won't even go in to the brushes, and the barn staff has pointedly left out more brooms :)

Still, the new coat coming in underneath is nice and short, silky smooth and shiny. Can't wait for the first full bath of the year though to really get the coat nice and clean.

At this point, I am only using the rubber curry comb. After one or two swipes, I'm pulling out a thick layer of hair from it. I tried to use the other brushes after the curry comb but they were still getting filled up and I said forget it!
I'm not enjoying all the extra brushing that I've been doing but I know for sure that my girls think I'm the best thing since sliced bread! They follow me around if I've got the brush out.

I think they started earlier this yes, don't they?

I don't care as much about my qh shedding (she doesn't have THAT much of coat), but my paint is just OMG! It's long and white, and those hairs get everywhere and don't want to leave. :?

My little paint is the worst of the two and sounds exactly like yours. There were so many balls of hair on the ground after I brushed her out, it looked like some small animal had exploded. Also, Brandy kept sticking her nose into the hair balls and getting them stuck to her face.

I'm surprised we haven't started down here yet! It did snow this week, but it's going to be 60 degrees today. I'm ready, no more sweaty horses!

I love it when I go to the grocery store with white hairs all fuzzed up in my dark brown curly hair... ewww.

hahaha i hate the hair... my horses seem to know exactly how to stand to catch the wind so the hair and dirt fly right into my face... :( smart cookies

this year i am letting them naturally shed out each week with minor brushing and at the end of the week take a vacuum to it and see if its any better :/

My guy is starting to shed- it's nuts. White hair everywhere. The only problem though is it's only February- I'm sure it's going to be cold again and snow before spring. He'll be a wee bit chilly if that happens!

We've had the strangest winter this year..

It's so weird this year...Half the time when I get up in the morning or go out for lunch at work it already feels like spring. I hope this is it for our winter...
My guy is blanketed so no thick winter coat this year. His neck is pretty fuzzy though but he hasn't started shedding out yet. I just can't wait...

My Welsh Mountain pony gets the fuzzies even being in coastal Texas! I swear his fur is atleast 2" long, which make for great pony hugs! He's not shedding yet, though, maybe cause of all the rain... :-|

I always look so professional though, when I have huge clumps of brown, black, white, and red hairs sticking to the horse snot and slobber all over my shirt! My riders and their parents are always so impressed.

What is even funnier is the first warm day when people line up at the wash rack to give a bath and the horses are at the height of shedding. The spray from the hose ends up plastering hair all over the walls of the wash rack :)

I love it when Mudpie starts looking like he was pulled backwards through a thorn bush! :D
