My guy is starting to shed- it's nuts. White hair everywhere. The only problem though is it's only February- I'm sure it's going to be cold again and snow before spring. He'll be a wee bit chilly if that happens!

We've had the strangest winter this year..

My Welsh Mountain pony gets the fuzzies even being in coastal Texas! I swear his fur is atleast 2" long, which make for great pony hugs! He's not shedding yet, though, maybe cause of all the rain... :-|

I always look so professional though, when I have huge clumps of brown, black, white, and red hairs sticking to the horse snot and slobber all over my shirt! My riders and their parents are always so impressed.

Awh im jealous.. im not there yet.. ground is still covered in ice and snow :( soon... my time of mouth full of horse hair..which you never know how it got there.. and all over my nice black work clothes... will be covered :D

What is even funnier is the first warm day when people line up at the wash rack to give a bath and the horses are at the height of shedding. The spray from the hose ends up plastering hair all over the walls of the wash rack :)

Went out this morning to feed and brush, IT'S STARTED! Mangy looking beasties!

It's so weird this year...Half the time when I get up in the morning or go out for lunch at work it already feels like spring. I hope this is it for our winter...
My guy is blanketed so no thick winter coat this year. His neck is pretty fuzzy though but he hasn't started shedding out yet. I just can't wait...

Errr...I actually like the shedding process. Not so much the hair in the mouth/eyes/everywhere-it-shouldn't-be, but rather the great satisfaction I feel when the slick, shiney, summer coat starts coming through.

Grooming muddy hairy ponies is one of my favorite stress relievers!

I love it when Mudpie starts looking like he was pulled backwards through a thorn bush! :D

I did a couple of hours of grooming today and left the landscape littered with huge balls of white fluffy stuff. The robins will be thrilled that I have taken their nest building requirements under consideration!

I went to Starbucks one morning after riding last week, and the lady behind me in line says "I bet I can guess what color horse you have.." I just burst out laughing...

both of mine are shedding like mad already! I think I'm about to invest in safety goggles and face masks. I just have to show the brush to the boys and the hair jumps off them and attacks me.. mostly they aim for my eyes because I wear contacts lol
