I stopped using photobucket a million years ago, they suck. Has nobody heard of Imgur, though? I do literally all of my imaging hosting with them. They are so easy, and quick. And also free.

I'd be careful with them:

I'd sign up for Imgur - except for the bit I've underlined in their ToS below.
Stuff not to do

If someone else might own the copyright to it, don't upload it. Don't upload gore, "hate speech" (i.e. demeaning race, gender, age, religious or sexual orientation, etc.), or material that is threatening, harassing, defamatory, or that encourages violence or crime. Don't upload illegal content such as child porn or nonconsensual ("revenge") porn. Don't hotlink to adult content or to file-sharing, gambling, torrent, warez, or Imgur rip-off sites. Don't impersonate someone else. Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.

That seems strange considering imgur is the standard website to use when posting something to Reddit?

So how do I get all my photos that are on photobucket back onto my computer?
Once you log into the site (seems to be very slow), if you have your pictures set up as albums, follow these instructions: Downloading Albums ? Photobucket Support The process was really slow, especially for my very large albums, but these instructions did work.

Yeah, they've apparently intentionally throttled the download to be obstructive. Which makes me like them even less now, if that were possible.

Subbing.

I've been storing photos on PB for more than ten years. I haven't tried to log in to PB for a few weeks.

Some of you have done a stellar job of carefully "voicing" my thoughts so I shall duct tape my fingers together so I don't say the real words and end up permanently banned.

<bangs head>

if Net Nuetrality is killed ( and wasn't it recently killed by governmnet?) you will find more and more things that utilize internet bandwidth will be metered, so if you want the service you were used to, you'll have to pay more, or . . you can pay less and get a slower service. It appears to be the way of the future.

Hmm. About a month ago, I paid to have the ads removed because they were so bad, I couldn't even view my own photos ... much less link them.

I just tried logging on b/c I wanted to see if I could link a photo ... and the website is not loading properly. I can't view anything right now.

I was finally able to log on late last night and download my photos (about 1.5k) relatively quickly and easily. It seems like the best time to log on is during late night or early morning as there are not as many people on there. I am worried that after a few months go by and nobody is purchasing their ridiculous $399 plans that they will start deleting accounts and photos to further extort people into purchasing those plans.
@Dehda01, I think those are the old plans. I just checked the PB website and they have Plus50 ($59.99/yr), Plus100 ($99.99/yr), and Plus500 ($399/yr). The only plan that will let you post your images on 3rd party sites (like this forum) is the Plus500 plan. Everything else just lets you host photos on the PB website (basically just a storage website, although you may still be able to link to the album for people to view on the Plus100 plan but NOT the Plus50 plan).

I also just noticed on the Plus500 plan that there is now a little asterisk* that leads to itty bitty text at the bottom that says "Photobucket reserves the right to limit excessive bandwith usage". So does that mean that even if I am paying $399 a year to link to my photos I may still not be able to post them, especially if I have a very popular blog or business and they are getting a lot of hits? And how much do they deem "excessive"? This is vary vague language and a huge red flag. This whole thing screams unethical business practices to me.

Probably having issues with logigng on/site loading because their being overloaded with tonnnnnnn of people freaking out just like you guys haha! Try and do really late at night or early morning and you may have better luck?

@k9kenai. Those are the current website/app and if you want it to be AD-free with more room. They have monthly/yearly prices. The PLUS50 is $49.99 a YEAR or $4.99 a MONTH.

You certainly can go up to PLUS500 for 502 GB for $399 a year. Who is needing that much room? There are better ways to store pictures without shrinkage thank photobucket.

I don't see where they are giving up their free smaller ad pushing photo storing services. It fuels the rest of their services(picture printing, canvases, cups).

@Dehda01 This is what I am seeing when I go to the Photobucket website (Photobucket Plus Storage | Photobucket):

Maybe they are not doing it to everyone yet? I'm not sure. They aren't giving up their free storage options, but now you are no longer able to post your images outside of Photobucket unless you purchase that $399/yr plan. So unless you purchase it, the only way people could view your images is if they went to your album and I'm not even sure if that would work either because their terms about linking are kind of odd too. Maybe with all the backlash they will change it so that the lower priced plans will allow 3rd party linking, too.

It's definitely not the best site but it was the easiest for a long time. There are definitely better options now. I'm sure those other options will see lots of business after this whole fiasco.

That's weird that the app is different. Just another reason that it seems like Photobucket doesn't have it together...but maybe people can get to their albums and download them from the app easier than the website? It might be worth a try to anybody who hasn't been able to access the website and has a tablet that has the space to download photos to.
