Just curious how many of your horses pin their ears and act generally pissy when you feed?
Daisy, my mare, nickers and calls while I am in the feed room, but as soon as I come out with the hay and grain she pins those ears and looks nasty. She isn't disrespectful at all with her body, she goes to the other end of her stall and waits until the hay/grain are in her buckets.
Howard the yearling has just started pinning his ears as well (he is stalled right next to her for dinner/breakfast). I tell him no and kick him out of the stall (his opens into a run) as soon as he does it. When he stands there without pinning his ears I leave him alone, throw the feed and move on.
Spidey is generally pretty happy about everything, so I find myself feeding him first and give him a scratch while I am at it.
Curious what people do about ear pinning?
