My friesian cross has very high withers, and is veeery wide in the shoulders. Her gullet is 8.5", so I am using a Winter Wide with interchangeable gullet plates. BUT it is practically sitting on top of her withers, instead of the two finger rule, it fits about half a finger. It fits great when I am not in the saddle, but the extra weight of a person squishes it down so it's only a half finger of room. So I tried out a saddle lift that was about an inch thick foam pad that gave it enough lift, but THEN it was pinching her shoulders. Suggestions???? (Besides a custom made/expensive saddle I can't afford) Right now there is a 9" gullet plate, and the next size up I think is 10". I can switch it out, and try it with the pad, but I'm worried I'm just flattening it out more and more so it will continue to sit on her shoulders.
