Stand her up square, ask by tapping the back of her left leg cannon. When she moves it forward grab her at the whither and pull to shift her weight to the left, which encourages her to move her right leg forward (whilst tapping on that leg). And repeat, give her a cookie, but make her reach her neck out towards her which will encourage her to reach forward.
Once she gets the gist of it practice on a small incline.

Teach her how to do it in a couple of days and then before and after you get on ask her to park out and give her a nice pat when she does it.

 

Thanks! My previous trainer had said to make sure she's square, then to tap her elbow, and lightly step on the back of her heel to move her foot forward. But i like this method alot better, i didnt like stepping on her heels that much. And she wouldnt ever scoot her other leg forward. What do i do if she doesnt move the other one forward? She's stubborn sometimes, i guess i'll have to catch her in a good mood Lol.

 

I teach all of my colts from the ground with gentle tugs and praise. When she is standing, I pull to her left for her right foot and vice versa. Been doing it this way for 13 years, and they always learn quickly and well. Every time we stop I ask them to park out. In a very short time, I can ask them from anywhere on the line. Just a whoa and a small tug and they will park out. Especially useful when you are showing a horse to someone on the line, and need them to park out at the end of the lunge line without having to go up and place their feet for them.

How I transfer the cue to undersaddle is when I ask them, I will tap their shoulder right about where my toe would reach. When I ask for the left foot, I tap tap the left shoulder. Right and right.
