My horses sizes are 84 and they are 15.3hh tall and than my 17hh boy is 86-87. Is this normal? What is everyone else's horses blanket/height sizes?

The size of the blanket is more affected by how wide and long your horse is, not necessarily height. Those are definitely on the bigger side though.. Most of the bigger horses at our barn wear around an 80 or 82. Medium sized horses are closer to 78ish. I think my 17.3 ex stud warmblood only wears an 84.. Are you sure you have them measured correctly?

My horse is 15hh and wears a 72, but he's on the compact side.

I have to say I HATE buying horse rugs! Being in NZ the measurements/sizing are different but I always struggle to get the right size the first time, always end up having to go back and swap it no matter how much measuring I do. Definitely the build of a horse makes a huge difference, I have a rug I used on a 15hh quarter horse, tried it on my 15hh paint and it's at least 2-3 sizes too big for him. He has a quarter horse butt but quite narrow at the front.

Horse height doesn't really determine blanket size. It really depends on how the horse is built (long vs short back, overweight/just stocky in general vs lanky build)

My 13.2h pony is a 69", but could go in a 70". But almost 17.3h mare is an 86" usually, but I have had a couple 86" be too small. I have a friend who's horse is mayb 15.3h and he's an 84". Another friend has a 14.3h horse who also goes in a 70".
